Assumption’s Elementary Faith Formation Program assists parish families in providing religious instruction and formation for children. Instruction seeks to evoke and grow a life-long relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church. It develops this relationship with Christ through the promises and commandments contained in the Good News of his Gospel message, as well as through prayer, the liturgy and the sacraments.
Our Elementary Faith Formation Program is also responsible for providing and supervising sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion.
Classes meet Sundays after 9:00 AM Mass during the school year.
Our objectives are to provide a program that offers young people the opportunity to know and love Christ and the Catholic Church, and to provide social activities within the realm of parish life. Our junior and senior high students traditionally meet on Wednesday after school from mid-September to mid-May.
Grades seven and eight are a transition time as children become teens. In class, we look more deeply at our knowledge and lived experience of our faith, exploring ways to fill in the holes we may have missed along the way.
Grades nine and ten begin preparation for Confirmation. We concentrate on what it means to live as an adult in the Catholic church. What are the gifts? What are the obligations? Are we ready to publicly proclaim our faith?

Pre-School Sunday School
Between Labor Day and Memorial Day, our preschool children are welcome to the Church basement at Sunday Masses to participate in Sunday school. After the Gospel, the cue to send your children will be during “Jesus Loves Me” as sang by the music leaders. Your children are invited to follow the teacher as she or he makes their way down the center aisle. If your child is apprehensive about going alone, you or an older sibling are more than welcome to accompany them.
The children will return to the Church after the petitions, during the collection. At this time, they are welcome to the front of the altar to give their personal offering. The monies from this children’s collection are used to maintain our piano.
If you are interested in joining the team that leads our preschoolers, contact the parish office.
The youth are an essential part of our faith community. Their smiles and strong personalities are often responsible for increasing the energy in our parish. Assumption’s Youth Group is a safe and welcoming place where young people can make and develop positive relationships with each other, our loving God and His Church.
